In the winter of 2013 I had the privelege to work with 4th graders at Bennett Elementary as part of the School of Art and Design's outreach course Detroit Connections. Over the course of the semester we brainstormed activities and projects to encourage creative thinking and risk taking.

At the end of the semester, we each presented our group of students a final parting gift that we designed and made ourselves. I personalized individual sketchbooks with the children's portraits and had fun creative prompts in the form of an roleplaying adventure. These went into linen pouches that could be worn over the shoulder or as a backpack, and came with a miniature magnifying glass.
